Children’s exposure to social media

tween-girl-computer-MIndia: 07-04-15; 11:45AM;The world in which we are living today is totally technology driven and social media has its own importance that we cannot deny. Social media that covers a wide range of communities and network like- Facebook, twitter, Ourkut, Google, MySpace, these are the sites through which we can share our views, photos and much more. Children are likely to spend there most of the time on these sites but it has negative as well as positive effect on them. Positive effect is that it helps them to increase their creativity. They can even establish communication with their teachers and friends but even they can communicate with the big entrepreneurs and can gain knowledgeable information.

Negative effect is that they spend more and more time on these sites which is important to increase their creativity but dew to that their academic performance is been degraded. Children are not even giving proper time to their family because they like to spend more time on social media in spite of discussing the day to day work with their family.

It is very much important to make them realise that they should make a balance between how much they are going to spend their time on social networking sites and how much time they are going to dedicate towards the studies in spite of all this a little time should also been given to their family members.

I’ve been researching pollinator declines over the past decade. It has been encouraging and inspiring to see my chosen subject matter go from completely off the general public’s radar to one of the most important environmental issues of our time. These days, it would be difficult to go a full week without seeing something alarming about pollinator declines in a newspaper or social media headline.

In general, it is great that the public and policy makers are starting to appreciate the insect pollinators and the ecosystem service they provide. Heck, even Obama himself wants to help! These little creatures feed on nectar and pollen and move pollen grains from flower to flower while foraging. This behaviour allows gene flow to occur among plants, which then leads to the production of seeds and fruit. Given the estimates that over 3/4 of…

Rolling Stone Forgot: Investigative Reporting is About Discovery

gr8 article

The Buttry Diary

Investigative reporting is about discovery of a story, not confirmation of your notions.

That is the key mistake Rolling Stone made in its false, and now retracted, story “A Rape on Campus,” as I read the Columbia School of Journalism report on the fiasco.

Rolling Stone’s repudiation of the main narrative in ‘A Rape on Campus’ is a story of journalistic failure that was avoidable. The failure encompassed reporting, editing, editorial supervision and fact-checking,” wrote the Columbia authors, Sheila Coronel, J-School Dean Steve Coll and Derek Kravitz.

The failure started, though, with a preconceived notion of what the story should be. Reporter Sabrina Rubin Erdely; Sean Woods, the primary editor of the story; and Will Dana, managing editor; had too strong a vision of what the story should be and not a strong enough commitment to learn what it really was.

I worked on a series on rape in 1993 for…

Hairstyles in summer and what we can do to protect our hairs from harmful sun rays

India: 06/04/15: 21:08; Summer is a great time to switch over from our boring regular style with the new look in the hot summers. Trying some new haircuts or even trying with new hair colours on to our hairs can be super energizing for this summer. There are many unnamedhairstyles we can go for to protect ourselves from the hot sunny days like Easy knotted hairs, ponytails, twisted up do, braided bun, messy bun.

A lot can go wrong when we go directly into the sun without covering our hairs. Sun can damage our hairs leading to faded colour, split ends and a brutal dry texture. Rays coming from the sun is not only harmful for our skin but it’s harmful even for our hair also. We should try to cover our hairs when we our out in sun whenever it’s possible.

My choice- To what extent

India: 04/04/15; 15:04: My choice is a short video made by Homi Adajania in association with vogue India featuring Deepika padukon and other 99 women’s. This video is generally based on women empowerment. Since the video is on YouTube and other sites it crossed 5.3 million viewers. The content of the video is very appealing because it is focusing on the choice of a woman. It is up to her what she has to do with her body and she is independent enough to think anything about herself. It’s her choice what type of clothes she is going to wear and nobody can make her let down. She has got absolute option for having relationship with any guy she wants.Cute-smile-of-deepika-padukone-hd-wallpaper

The video, on one, hand gained importance on the other hand the video was criticised by many political parties even by many film stars. Many videos were generated by those who are opposing the content of the video projecting that the similar absolute freedom should be granted to the males also and they should be permitted to have relationship with more than one female because it’s “his choice”. It is only the future which will decide how much and to what extent freedom should be granted to both the sexes. However presently a concept of female freedom has been through open by this video.
